It was known as AuctionWeb, and he started his business as a personal project or hobby to help get rid of excessive computer equipment, which he had accumulated. Soon the traffic on his website was so high that he had to upgrade to a business internet account and start charging people a fee to use the platform and he had to hire someone to handle all the payments coming in. The website, which was known as AuctionWeb, is now known by its more popular name, eBay.
